In Hating Kapatid movie, Judy Ann Santos plays the role of Maria Rica while Sarah Geronimo plays the role of the younger sister, Maria Cecilia. Both of them are daughters of public school teachers turned OFW, Ms. Cherry Pie Picache and Al Tantay. When their parents left them in the care of their Lola Gerty (Ms. Gina Pareño), Rica and Cecilia are left with a family business of firecrakers in Bocaue, Bulacan. The two girls are inseparable. Rica takes her role as the big sister seriously, she even broke up with her boyfriend, Bong (JC DeVera), and vowing to devote her life taking care of her younger sister, Cecilia when the latter is hurt in a minor accident in their firecraker store. Ten years come to pass and their parents return home. The whole family moves to Manila. Rica, though an accounting major graduate, chooses to sell jewelry instead of getting a professional job. Cecilia, on the other hand, works as a sales clerk in a video store and a promodizer of magic sing. She meets Edsel (Luis Manzano), an issurance sales agent while doing her job in a mall. Rica, sensing that the two are attracted to each other tries hard to keep them apart. Cecilia, wanting to make her sister Rica happy, look for Bong, but the result is the exact opposite. Rica feels betrayed, especially when she learns that her baby sister is already in a relationship. Rica packs her things and left their house. Now, it's Cecilia who has to find a way to fix their sibling problems. Hating Kapatid, showing in SM Cinemas.
